Arkham Horror - The Dunwich Legacy Part 1

Heading the call of Dr. Armitage, the four investigators headed to Miskatonic University to find his companion, Dr. Warren Rice.  Our investigators are: Zoey Samaras, Rex Murphy, Agnes Baker and Roland Banks.  In the early hours the evening, they searched the campus for Dr. Rice.  Clues lead them to his office in the Administration building, but finding the door locked they had to find a way to unlock the door.  During the search, the group encountered strange creatures that floated around, but seemed to sap the strength of those near them, cultists whose flesh has been changed by some unknown alchemical process, and creatures that had no possible earthly origin.

A quick search led the investigators to "Jazz", one of the university's janitors, who was persuaded to open the door for the investigators.  As they entered Dr. Rice's office, the investigators heard screams and shouts from the science building.  After dealing with another of the strange cultists, the investigators searched the office and found the Doctor tied up in his closet.  They released and escorted him off the campus.

Later the investigators would find out that a beast escaped from the science building, made it's way into the dormitories, where it injured and killed several students.

The investigators are now headed downtown to the Clover Club, hoping to find Dr. Morgan.

Wrathful Crusade Fomation - Building a 1850 List

To make the Wrathful Crusade formation, you need the following units:

Saint Celestine

Inquisitor Greyfax

Space Marine Captain

0-1 Sternguard Squad

2-4 Crusader Squads

1-2 Assault Squads

1 Militarium Tempestus Squad

Note: The Space Marines must have the Black Templar Chapter Tactics.

The base cost for this formation is:  720 with no upgrades,  If you max out the units with no upgrades, the cost is 1040.  This will get you Zealot from the Collective Fanaticism rule.

What follows is my first idea for an 1850 list using this formation.

Celestine (200)

Inquisitor Greyfax (150)

Space Marine Captain (90) – 160
                Artificer Armor (20)
                Storm Shield (15)
                Blade of the Worthy (30)
                Melta Bombs (5)

Sternguard Squad (110) – 120
                3x Combi-Melta (30)
                2x Combi-Plasma (20)
                Sgt w/ Melta Bomb (5)
                DT: Drop Pod (35)

Crusader Squad #1 (70) – 195
                10-Man Squad (70)
                1 x Heavy Bolter (10)
                1x Meltagun (10)
                DT: Drop Pod (35)

Crusader Squad #2 (70) – 195
                10-Man Squad (70)
                1x Heavy Bolter (10)
                1x meltagun (10)
                DT: Drop Pod (35)

Crusader Squad #3 (70) – 150
                5-Man Squad (0)
                DT: Razorback (55) - 80
                                Twin-linked Lascannon (20)
                                Dozer Blade (5)

Crusader Squad #4 (70) – 150
                5-Man Squad (0)
                DT: Razorback (55) – 80
                                Twin-Linked Lascannon (20)
                Dozer Blade (5)

                5-Man Squad (0)
                Jump Packs (15)
Vet Sgt  w/ Power Axe (25)

                5-man Squad (0)
                Jump Packs (15)

Fall of Cadia - Wrathful Crusade Formation

This looks like an interesting formation to run.  It contains Celestine, Greyfax, a space marine captain, 2-4 Crusader squads, 1-2 assault squads, 0-1 Sternguard squads (the space marines have the Black Templars chapter tactics), and a Militarium Tempestus squad.  Maxing the number of units in the formation while applying no upgrades, so you get the Collective Fanaticism rule, costs 1040 points.  This will give every unit in the formation, Zealot, in addition to the Crusader Rule, and the ability to re-roll charges, and possibly get Furious Charge when you roll a 10 or more on the charge distance.

With the addition of dedicated transports, and unit upgrades this can formation can be set up for alpha striking, and/or objective holding.

Add in Celestine's Saintly Blessings, you either get troop units have a 6+ FNP,  or elite units get Furious Charge and Counter-Attack, once per game.

Using Greyfax's Aura of Oppression psychic power will prevent a unit from moving away quickly, or overwatching any of the units within charge range.

Additionally, the Space Marine Captain can take any of the Ecclesiarchy Relics.

Fall of Cadia Quick Review

Picked up my copy today and read through it.  I really like the story.  The characters are neat, and the formations and detachments look interesting to use.

More details to follow.

30K Hobby Goals

I'm looking to field a 2500 pt Raven Guard Army.  After looking over my collection, I have determined I need to build the following to meet the points level:

a 10 man Legion Tactical Squad and a 10 Man Legion Assault Squad.

I'm also building a Deredeo Dreadnought with the Lascannon arms.
